There’s a mantra here at Village Farm that our farmers live by… Always Be Planting! This week you can find us doing just that as we prepare a pipeline of crops to harvest until our Spring plants are in the ground. Vegetables like salad mix, radishes, fennel, cilantro, and dill are great to grow in this time of transition as the weather warms and days become longer. Even our Brussel Sprouts are enjoying this seasonal shift as they begin to channel their energy into forming tight buds. We hope to harvest them soon and sell them on the stalk at the Veggie Wagon!

As our tomatoes continue to put on growth in the greenhouse, we are busy harvesting carrots to make room in the tunnels! Carrots are nature's natural tillage mechanism, and this crop has done a wonderful job of loosening up the clay soil to make a fertile home for our tomato plants. In the coming weeks, we will also be breaking ground in our flower patch! All of our flower varieties have germinated and will be ready to plant in early March. Sunflowers (below) will be some of the first to bloom in Spring and more will be planted throughout the season in time for Mother’s Day Bouquets!

We will be selling beautiful bunches of rainbow carrots and much more at the Rodeo Round Up Farmers Market this Saturday! Put yourself in the boots of a cowboy as you climb atop the mechanical bull, and enjoy other rodeo-themed activities! In addition to our Veggie Wagon, patrons can shop for other local goods like honey, salsa, and sourdough bread. Some vendors even have special gifts for Valentine's Day if you’re looking to surprise a special someone.

Currently in Season: Spinach, Cabbage, Salad Mix, Lettuce, Cilantro, Dill, Parsley, Daikon Radish, Carrots, Fennel, Kohlrabi, Radicchio and Scallions
