Seasonal Gardening Series Recap and Spring Kickoff this Saturday!

February 29th, 2024

We had such a great turnout for our Seasonal Gardening Series over the weekend! These classes are always a treat because they provide an opportunity for us to connect with our community over a shared love of gardening. Farmer Nathan kicked off the class in what we like to call the “nerve center” of the farm: the greenhouse. All of the attendees were able to see the different crop varieties we have growing for the spring season. The tomatoes nearly stole the show since they’re towering over everything else!

After the greenhouse tour, everyone headed over the bridge and through the farm to one of our empty planter boxes. This provided the perfect opportunity to chat about spacing for different varieties and to get hands-on time in the soil to practice planting. Since tomatoes are one of the most asked about crops, Farmer Nathan shared the best practices for transplanting tomatoes and what to do if they’re too “leggy” or already beginning to bloom. If you were in attendance, make sure to share photos of your home gardens with us! We can’t wait to see what you grow this spring.

If you missed out on the class but are eager to help us celebrate spring’s arrival, we would love for you to join us for our Spring Kickoff this weekend! This event takes place during the Farmers Market on Saturday, March 2nd, from 9am-1pm. Throughout the duration of the market, you’ll be able to hang out with our animals, pick up some plants for your garden at our seedling sale, make wildflower seed bombs, and take a tumble in the bounce house. In addition to the spring festivities, you’ll also be able to shop a curated collection of local goods from our Farmers Market vendors and pick up organic produce from the Farm Stand. This event is open to the public so we hope to see you there!
