Are you an avid home gardener curious how we prepare for Spring and protect plants through winter weather? Or looking to get your kiddos out of the house for a brisk and sunny stroll through the farm? Join Farmer Alyssa this Saturday for our monthly Farm Tour as she takes you on a journey from seed to table at Village Farm. The tour is free and open to all ages, participants will also get a chance to interact with our beloved goats and chickens!

Although some of our crops exposed to freezing temperatures were nipped by frost, plants covered with protective cloth seem to have endured without serious repercussions. Farmer Nathan expects to know the true impact after a few weeks, as some plants express signs of stress once time has passed. Our high tunnels remain in peak condition and we are harvesting beautiful vegetables, like these vibrant rainbow carrots! Though variety may be a bit more limited, we look forward to continuing to provide you with vegetables through our Veggie Share Program and Farmers Market Veggie Wagon!

We are still gaining ground on Spring preparations in the greenhouse. Our Farm Team is excited this week to up-pot a diverse array of peppers and tomatoes for our Annual Seedling Sale at the Farmers Market Spring Kickoff in late March! If you are planning to cultivate a Spring garden, these seedlings will be well-established and ready to plant! We will also have a variety of squash, cucumber, and eggplant varieties for you to choose from, all of which have been successfully trialed here at Village Farm!

Currently in Season: Celery, Cabbage, Salad Mix, Lettuce, Cilantro, Dill, Parsley, Beets, Daikon Radish, Carrots, Fennel, Kohlrabi, Radicchio and Scallions
