Join us at the Farmers Market this Saturday, September 27th, for the Lifestyle Team’s Hive to Harvest event! A local beekeeper will be in attendance to share fascinating insights into the world of bees and the vital role they play in our ecosystem. In addition to honey tastings and a Q&A with the beekeeper, you’ll learn simple ways you can help protect these essential pollinators in your own backyard. This event is open to the public and will take place from 9-11am during the Farmers Market. Head here for more details.

Fall has arrived and with it another opportunity to volunteer at our Community Fig Orchard Beautification Day! Come lend us a hand on Saturday, October 11th, from 10am-12:30pm as we weed, mulch, and add a fresh layer of compost. We have 110 fig trees in the orchard and with your help, they should be producing in abundance in just a couple of years. And, there may even be a few figs on the branches to sample this year! Tools, water, and snacks will be provided but we recommend bringing your own work gloves. This event is open to the public and all ages. Make sure to sign up here if you plan on attending!

We are excited to share that we harvested the first Hakurei turnips of the season this week! They were planted in one of our tunnels during the last week of August and have already reached optimal harvesting size this week. This round is mild in flavor and beautifully crunchy. Try slicing some Hakureis thinly and adding them to slaws or salads. Or, give them a quick roast in the oven for an easy side dish. You can find Hakurei turnips at the Farm Stand on Saturday.
