Gearing up for Fall on the Farm

Have you been thinking about starting a garden or learning to grow your own food this fall? If so, we have a couple of opportunities for you! This Sunday, September 11th at 1:30pm on the farm, join Farmer Nathan for our Seasonal Gardening Series: Cool Season Edition. This class is open to the public and costs $10. And, there are still spaces available! You can secure your spot here. If you can’t make this one, we’ll be teaching a Backyard Gardening Basics class in October so stay tuned for more details!
Aside from our public classes, we also have opportunities exclusively for our Harvest Green residents like our Farm Club. Residents who join Farm Club receive their own 20' x 20' growing space at the Village Farm that includes all supplies (seeds, transplants, compost, fertilizer, tools, and more), gardening guides, and active support from the Farm Educators to help each member grow an abundance of personal vegetables year-round. Farm Club members also have access to special hands-on family and kid classes, club breakfasts, pizza nights, and other happenings. How about an update on our HVF (High Velocity Farming) rows?! Since we’re keeping these planted with quick-maturing crops, these rows will look very different week to week. The arugula we planted about two weeks ago has already reached the baby greens stage as you can see in the photo above! At the end of last week we seeded our second HVF row with watermelon radishes and carrots. We’re happy to report that the watermelon radishes have already popped up! We can’t wait to share these delicious fall veggies with you soon!
Currently in Season at the Farm Stand: Sweet and Hot Peppers, Cucumbers, Italian and Asian Eggplants, Long Beans, Zucchini, Tromboncino Squash, Okra, Amaranth Greens, Roselle Greens, Malabar Spinach, Sweet Potato Greens, Bitter Melon, and Basil.
