Half dozen egg cartons have officially returned for sale in our weekly Vegetable Share! We also have a new vendor selling farm fresh eggs at the market on a regular basis, however Village Farm raised eggs will only be sold in the Veggie Share for the near future. Those interested in the farm share can expect to receive a variety of 6-8 different types of vegetables, fruits, and herbs each week with the addition of eggs if preferred. Free delivery to your doorstep is offered to Harvest Green residents, while the public can choose from 2 different drop sites in the Richmond/Sugar Land area.

Members of our Farm Club are also enjoying the interesting varieties of summer veggies harvested from their personal gardening plots! Different from our long, straight trellis system for farm production, Maritess has created a beautiful tunnel trellis by growing her luffa and bitter melon plants that love to climb! This provides additional shade for her to work under during the heat of the day and grow more shade-tolerant plants underneath. If you are looking to elevate your home garden during the summertime, we highly recommend trying out a trellis method like this!

Also new to the Veggie Share and Farmers Market is an ultra-sweet herb - Stevia! This sugar alternative is often found in a powder or liquid form in the grocery store, but the farmers have grown the actual plant which can be used similarly in drinks and baked goods! When consumed, Stevia does not cause a spike in your glycemic index, making it a better sweetener option.

In Season : Korean Melon, Slicing Cucumbers, Asian Eggplant, Butternut Squash, Malabar Spinach, Okra, Bitter Melon, Luffa, Peppers: Poblano, Banana, Jalapeno, and Cayenne, Basil, Thai Basil, Roselle, and Celery Root
