This week our new flock of chickens surprised us with the first batch of eggs! These young hens are still maturing so the size of their eggs is quite small, as several can fit in the palm of a hand. The summer season is also a time of slower egg production as chickens redirect their energy from egg laying to cooling off their bodies. We are excited to introduce eggs into the Vegetable Share later this year - so stay tuned for updates as egg size and production increases this Fall season!

If your kids are home for summer break, a morning visit to the farm is the perfect way to get kiddos outdoors and engaged in nature! Feel free to say hello to our resident goats and chickens and enjoy a walk down the farm path to see if you can identify different veggies growing this season! Our weekly Farmers Market on Saturday is also a great time to stock up on our organic produce and pick out a treat from local vendors.

Butternut Squash is back on the menu this week! The nutty, slightly sweet, and personal-sized fruits are sure to be a crowd pleaser once again. Although this crop was grown during the Spring, they are coined as a winter squash because of their unique ability to store throughout the year!

Currently In Season : Slicing Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes, Slicing Cucumbers, Italian Eggplant, Asian Eggplant, Malabar Spinach, Long Beans, Okra, Bitter Melon, Luffa, Peppers: Poblano, Banana, Jalapeno, Shishito, Cayenne, Green Bell, and Sweet Bell, Zucchini, Tromboncino, Basil, and Celery Root
