The Last Big Push of Winter Seeding
We started the last big push of winter seeding in the greenhouse this week. We planted over 40 trays with crops like bok choy, tatsoi, broccoli, cauliflower, Swiss chard, kohlrabi, lettuce, and cabbage. We also planted a variety of alliums in the field like yellow onions, red onions, scallions, and leeks. Before you know it, we’ll be shifting our focus to planting seeds for spring! But for now, we’re relishing the season at hand.
This week brings a few new delicious crops just in time for holiday meals! Our next succession of cauliflower is being harvested. It is a variety called “Amazing” and it produces larger domed heads. We’re also harvesting the first of our Beauregarde snow peas. Beauregarde yields a mix of both green and dark purple snow peas that keep their vibrant color once cooked. Joining the cauliflower and snow peas is our intensely colored Merlot Napa cabbage and tender spinach.
Curious where you can get your hands on our delicious produce? At our farm stand, of course! Since the next two Saturdays fall on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, we’ll be shifting our farm stand to Thursday, December 23rd and Thursday, December 30th. The farm stand will take place from 3-6pm on the farm next to our office (the small building with the mural just over the bridge). We’ll have all of the produce listed below and would love to have you out on the farm to enjoy these last days of 2021. We hope to see you there!
