Seasonal Gardening Series and Farm Tour this Month

February 15th, 2024

Do you love the idea of growing your own food at home but aren’t quite sure where to start? Our upcoming Seasonal Gardening Series is perfect for you! We invite you to Join Farmer Nathan on Sunday, February 25th at 2pm so you can prepare for the upcoming spring growing season and expand your home gardening skills. Participants will have the opportunity for some hands-on planting experience in addition to taking home plenty of gardening resources and a tomato plant to kickstart their home garden. This class is open to the public. Make sure to secure your spot here!

Since we’re at a fairly low freeze risk at this point in the season, we’re preparing one of our tunnels for tomato planting! We’ll be planting one row each of the following tomato varieties: Cherry Bomb, Sun Gold, and Valencia. Since we’ll be growing these inside the tunnel, we’ll be implementing a different trellising system with suspended twine which will require more vigorous pruning. This will also allow us to plant our tomatoes closer than we can in the field. This will be our first year growing tomatoes in the tunnels so we are incredibly excited to see how they do. We hope it will allow us to provide you with tomatoes earlier than what has been possible in the field!

If you’re curious about our new tunnels and what we have planted, we highly encourage you to attend our next Meet the Farm Tour on Saturday, February 24th at 10am. These monthly tours are a great way to experience the seasonal shifts on the farm throughout the year. And, they’re always accompanied by a tasting of one of our current crops! For this tour, we’ll focus on our tunnels and discuss our plans for spring planting. Our tours are open to the public and free of charge. Since space is limited, we request that you sign up here if you plan to attend.
