Spring Fig Orchard Planting Recap

March 28th, 2024

We had an amazing turnout this past weekend for our Fig Orchard Planting Day! More than 50 volunteers of all ages showed up ready to help us plant the remaining half of the orchard. We were so excited to see some volunteers return from our last planting day and are grateful you chose to spend your Saturday morning with us.

With your help, we were able to plant 50 trees in just 1.5 hours! We really appreciate the dedication and willingness to get a little muddy. Now that the Fig Orchard is fully planted, we’ll be managing it as part of Village Farm and ensuring our trees stay nice and healthy. If everything goes according to plan, we should be able to start harvesting figs within the next 3-4 years!

If you missed out on this event and still want to experience the beauty of springtime on the farm, we encourage you to come to our next Farm Tour this Saturday, March 30th, from 10-11am. These tours are a great way to learn about the seasonality of various crops in our climate so you know when to expect your favorite veggies at the Farm Stand. Plus, our tours are always accompanied by samples of what we’re currently harvesting! Our tours are open to the public and free of charge. If you plan to attend, we ask that you sign up here ahead of time.
