Pumpkin Patch Photo-op and Bird Walk this Weekend

October 19th, 2023

What are your plans this Saturday morning? We hope they include popping by the Farmers Market for our Pumpkin Patch Photo-op and Bird Walk! This Saturday, October 21st, from 9am-1pm during the Farmers Market, you’ll have the chance to snap some photos in an autumnal farm scene complete with pumpkins, hay bales, and our tractor. Before you pose for photos, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in one of our Bird Walks from 9-10am. It’s migrating season which means you’ll have the opportunity to see some new birds around the farm. Both of these events are open to the public and free of charge. We recommend signing up for our Bird Walk right here since spots are limited!

If you’ve been looking for a way to leave your own personal mark in the Harvest Green Community, we invite you to join us for our Community Fig Orchard Planting Day on Saturday, November 11th, from 9am-noon! Help us make quick (and fun!) work of planting all of the new fig trees near the Harvest Green silo. We’ll provide all of the necessary tools and refreshments so all you have to do is bring yourself and a pair of gloves if you prefer. This volunteer opportunity is open to the public. If you’d like to participate, please sign up here.

Swiss chard is making its way back into season this week! We’ve been sharing the journey of this delicious fall crop all the way from seed to harvest over the past couple of months. The seeds were started in the greenhouse in mid-August, thinned at the beginning of September, and transplanted in mid-September. Just over a month later, our Swiss chard is ready for the first harvest! We love the tender leaves and crunchy stems of this leafy green crop. Farmer Bethany recommends finely chopping the leaves and adding them to a salad with some of our peppers, radishes, and a homemade herby ranch dressing. Make sure to pick up some chard at the Farm Stand this weekend!
