The New Season of Our Vegetable Share Program and a Volunteer Spotlight

April 5th, 2023

The new season of our Vegetable Share Program kicks off next week! We’re implementing a couple of exciting changes for the 2023-2024 season, namely the addition of a limited number of public shares and a special resident discount. We’re also streamlining the shares themselves by offering one size that will include 4-6 organic veggies and will cost $21 for residents and $26 for the public share. Both public and resident shares are customizable (based on what we have in season) and have the option for extra add-ons depending on what you’re craving each week. Public shares can be picked up on Tuesdays at The Farmhouse while resident shares have the option for a Tuesday pick up or free home delivery on Thursdays. If you’re curious what a typical share looks like this time of year, check out the photo above! To learn more and sign up for your own share, head here.

Volunteer Spotlight

We are honored to introduce you to one of our volunteers, Melanie! She began volunteering with us because she is a certified health coach specializing in gut health and is passionate about the gut-brain connection and the correlation of incorporating a wide variety of veggies into one’s diet. Since her family kept a large garden while she was growing up, Melanie has found her happy place being able to volunteer with us. She’s able to spend quality time outdoors and apply what she learns in her own home garden. One of the biggest lessons she has learned is to “trust in the seed” which has helped her to grow beautiful veggies in her home garden for her family. Her favorite way to use our veggies is in a sourdough pizza though rice bowls and stir-fries come in a very close second! If you’re interested in volunteering with us, send us an email at HarvestGreen@Agmenity.com.

How about an update on all of the spring crops we planted? We’re harvesting the first patty pan squashes (pictured above) and zucchini this week! We’ll have limited amounts of each for the next couple of weeks until they hit their stride. Our tomato plants are covered in young fruits which means we’re anxiously waiting for them to start sizing up and showing a blush of color. Both the green beans and peppers are beginning to flower now that the weather is consistently warm. And, we’ve just started to see the first baby cucumbers on the vine! We hope you’re ready for a delicious and diverse spring season!
