Spring Season Gardening Class this Sunday!

March 13th, 2025

Our Seasonal Gardening Series is just around the corner on Sunday, March 16th, from 1-2 pm! Spring is the perfect time to start a garden so come join Farmer Nathan as he guides you through the basics. Attendees will learn which veggies and herbs grow best in our climate along with the key steps involved in seeing your plants from seed to harvest. Plus, you’ll get to take home a tomato or other spring seedling of your choice to get your garden started! This class is open to the public and has a limited number of spots available in order for us to provide the best experience possible. Head here to snag a spot.

We’ll have the first leeks of the season for you on Saturday! These baby leeks were harvested on the smaller size and they have a sweet and mellow onion flavor. We recommend using the white and light green portion of our leeks for the best flavor and texture in your recipes and saving the darker green portions for making stock. Try pairing the baby leeks with our Swiss chard in a frittata topped with a generous sprinkle of fresh dill. You can find all of those items at the Farm Stand on Saturday from 9am-1pm.

After about a month in the high tunnel, our tomato plants are starting to bloom and produce the first baby fruits (below)! Tomatoes have a vining growth habit which means they need support in the form of a trellis as they grow. In the tunnels, we use an overhead system of roller hooks and string to keep our plants supported. The main stem of each tomato plant is gently wound around a suspended string as it grows which allows us to maximize the vertical space available in the tunnel.
