Tomato Palooza


We are in the thick of tomato season on the farm! We’re now harvesting from all of our tomato varieties from small cherries to big slicers. Each variety is distinctive both in appearance and flavor. Since it can be a bit overwhelming to know which tomato to choose when you see them all lined up at the farm stand, we’ve created a handy guide for you! Below you’ll find most of the varieties we’re growing along with a brief description.

  • Galahad - large red beefsteak variety with a meaty texture and balanced flavor. Perfect for sandwiches and burgers.

  • Marmalade - orange slicing variety with a sweet flavor. Perfect for caprese salad, sandwiches, and burgers.

  • Enroza - pink beefsteak variety that is dense and juicy with a balanced flavor. Perfect for caprese salad, sandwiches, and burgers.

  • MaiTai - mottled red and yellow slicing variety with thin skin and a sweet and tangy flavor. Perfect for caprese salad, sandwiches, and burgers.

  • Granadero - red plum variety with a sweet and subtly spicy flavor. Perfect for sauces and salsas.

  • Clementine - orange cocktail variety with a sweet-tart flavor. Perfect for salads and roasting.

  • Supernova - grape variety that is red with yellow stripes and has a sweet flavor. Perfect for snacking, salads, and roasting.

  • Moonbeam - white grape variety with a sweet, citrusy flavor. Perfect for snacking, salads, and roasting.

  • Black Cherry - cherry variety with a dusky purplish-brown hue and a rich flavor. Perfect for snacking, salads, roasting, and jam.

  • Sungold - orange cherry variety with a sweet and fruity flavor. Perfect for snacking, salads, roasting, and jam.

  • Cherry Bomb - bright red cherry variety with a sweet and balanced flavor. Perfect for snacking, salads, roasting, and jam.

Now that you’ve got tomatoes on the brain, it’s the perfect time to share that La Tomatina Padre, our annual celebration of tomato season, returns on Saturday, June 18th! La Tomatina is a festival in Spain where they salute tomato season by pelting each other with ripe tomatoes. Our version invites kids to throw old tomatoes at their fathers or parental figures. This resident-only event takes place on the farm and is free of charge. We’ll share more about it in the coming weeks so stay tuned!
