Our next Farm Tour is this Sunday, May 25th, from 1-2pm and we would love to see you there! Warm season crops are in full swing including our many tomato and pepper varieties. And, our flower patch is in full bloom! This month’s tour will include samples of some of our tomatoes and cucumbers and we might even send you home with one of our beautiful flowers. Our tours are open to the public and free of charge but space is limited in order to provide the best experience possible. We recommend signing up here beforehand to ensure you get a spot!

We know some of you have been asking about okra at the Farm Stand recently so we are excited to share that okra is back in season! The recent warm weather kicked our okra plants into gear leading to the first sizable harvest this week. Okra’s arrival signifies our shift away from cool season crops as we fully embrace the warm season. We’re harvesting a mix of green and red okra varieties that are tender and perfect for all manner of recipes from frying to roasting to pickling. Make sure to snag some at the Farm Stand on Saturday or add it to your next Veggie Share!

After a slow and rainy start, our watermelons have been loving the recent warm weather and are starting to size up. They’re still fairly small, but they should reach maturity in the next month or so, just in time for summer’s official arrival! Did you know that melons are members of the Cucurbit family along with cucumbers and squashes? They grow in a vining pattern, just like our cucumbers, and thrive during the warmer months. Fruit is always an exciting thing around these parts so we’ll let you know as soon as watermelons are available at the Farm Stand!
